Excursion

An impressive boat trip to natural reserve Nagliai and to the Dead Dunes

Excurion time: Tuesday 14 June 2015, 16:00-20:00
Start and return: Nida Harbour

During our boat trip on the Curonian Lagoon we will enjoy the view of Nida town, Bulvikis Cape (the widest part of the Curonian Spit), Preila, Vecekrug Hill, Pervalka, Pervalka beacon, „the Curonian Spit desert “ – the Dead Dunes.

The destination of our trip are the Gray (Dead) Dunes, which are 4 former sandblown villages, the place where Liudvikas Reza was born, Karvaiciai village and 2 old cemeteries, self-sown forest and centuries-old forest fertile soils buried under the sand. Due to strong winds, huge gulleys and cavities have formed in these dunes, sometimes with fragments of the old fertile soil appearing.

An English speaking guide will tell us about the history of this area, the Curonian Lagoon, Neringa‘s settlements, culture and customs of people who have lived here.

For this excursion, we need a mandatory booking via E-Mail by 22 April. The cost of 39 € per person must be transferred to the account below under the keyword "Baltic Earth Nida". The excursion fee can also be added to the conference fee, to be payed by 22 April.
