Application and call for papers
University of Tartu and Baltic Earth call for papers for this Doctoral Students Conference in Tartu and Vilsandi, Estonia. Doctoral students and early career faculty/researchers/postdocs from various disciplines are invited to submit papers related to their areas of research.
The Students Conference will take place from 10 to 14 August 2015 at the Physicum of University of Tartu and on Vilsandi island. Language is English.
Who is eligible?
The Conference is open to PhD Students and early stage researchers. A MSc degree is the minimum requirement.
Submission requirements Papers in English are to be submitted, based on but not limited to the five scientific disciplines: meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, climatology, biogeochemistry. Applicants should have a background in Earth system sciences.
Required material to be submitted is:
- An abstract of the oral presentation you intend to give at the conference (max. 2p, please download the abstract template: .docx or .odt). You may include up to 2 figures or tables (we intend to publish course proceedings).
- Your contact and a short CV (max. 2 p)
- A letter of motivation (max. 1p)
- A valid confirmation of student status (or copy of MSc or PhD certificate)
All applicants are expected to present a 15 min talk. Participants will be selected by the conference committee on the basis of scientific quality.

Applicants will be notified by 9 June 2015.
What is covered?
Accommodation in Tartu (including breakfast and coffee breaks) as well as accommodation and meals in Vilsandi island, and bus shuttle form Tartu to Vilsandi and back will be fully covered. Travel to Tartu and back home is not covered but there is a possibility to apply for travel support. |
